A homeless heroin addict residing in modern-day Hartford, Connecticut.
Faunre is a strange personality — he comes across as spacey, out-of-it, dazed, whether high or otherwise (although he's very rarely sober). His words are slurred, his train of thought disjointed and distracted. He says whatever comes to mind regardless of how rude it may or may not seem. He doesn't really consider how his words come across to others, and it's exceedingly obvious. He could be described as reckless; his sense of caution is... Lacking, to say the least, and he has no hesitation when it comes to putting himself in what others would consider dangerous situations.
He is deeply, irrationally terrified of withdrawal, beyond what an addict might normally feel — he is typically fairly calm, but when he feels his access to heroin is threatened in any capacity, he immediately becomes panicked, and this often escalates into shouting and occasional physical aggression. He steals from his friends and family to finance his addiction.
He is whiny, attention-seeking, and childish. He expects others to pity him no matter what and feels they are supposed to accommodate for him — for example, in his mind, everyone must tolerate his rudeness and accept his harmful behaviors without complaint. He is lazy, and if he can avoid putting effort into something, then he pretty much always will.
Faunre was born with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome — essentially addicted to heroin. Both parents were addicts themselves. His early childhood was defined by neglect and conflict, as his father was abusive towards his mother, and the two frequently fought, oftentimes escalating into physical violence. When Faunre was eight years old, he witnessed his father's death by overdose.
His mother was incarcerated for manslaughter (as she was present when her boyfriend died and failed to administer Narcan, as she herself was high at the time) and various other charges relating to possession and child abuse. Faunre was sent to live with his aunt. He developed an opioid addiction in his teenage years — which, of course, came along with a growing stealing problem. He was given an ultimatum: either he quit the drug use, or he'd be kicked out. He didn't quit. He dropped out of high-school and spiraled into homelessness and, ultimately, heroin addiction. He turned to prostitution despite his age and total lack of sex drive. He still does sex work from time to time in order to finance his addiction.
When he was around 19, he entered a relationship with a client named Massimo Kovalchik, a Catholic convert who relapsed into heroin use after quitting years prior upon meeting Faunre. Massimo became obsessed with the idea of "saving" Faunre from his circumstances — from sex work, addiction, et cetera. He ultimately wishes to convert Faunre to Christianity and convince him to get sober.
